The MORRIS KITCHEN Mural
Digital Starting Point
After getting the green light from the owner of the Morris Kitchen to start conceptualizing ideas for a mural. I jumped into Procreate on my ipad pro to work towards a proof of concept

Mural
Proof of
Concept
After about a month of back and forth concept development we arrived at a design that everyone was excited about and then all the real work began...

ANALOG
Starting Point
After finalizing the mural design, I began preparing for the analog transfer. Following a discussion with the café owner about the uneven surface of the wall where the mural was to be installed, we decided to create the mural on three sheets of plywood. The sheets would be cut and fitted to match the wall's dimensions, ensuring a smoother and more visually appealing outcome.
Mural Board Measurements
After collecting measurements I plotted out the ideal shape and scale for the cafe wall.

Onsite
Tape up
I wanted to have an even offset around the mural in all directions . the consistent offset would create a clean border for the mural in the space.

Crucial Supplies I used to create the Physical mural
A) 4 in 1 primer for the plywood to prep the surface

B) Posca Acrylic Ink Pens to copy the line art onto primed plywood

C) Lumos Ray Projector to
enlarge and project mural line art to the correct scale

D) Tripod for stability of projector

E) USBC to HDMI Cable to connect Ipad + Projector

F) Ipad 12 inch pro with art file to be projected

Acrylic Painting
After transfering the line art to the plywood it was time to start mixing paint!

Rendering
Strategy
To build confidence in the rendering direction, I focused on completing the Right Panel first before expanding to the other panels. This approach served two purposes: it allowed me to conduct color tests and helped define the final rendering style I aimed to achieve for the overall painting.

After about 3 weeks of painting in my garage I was able deliver the mural to the Morris Kitchen to be installed
Bringing the Morris Kitchen Mural to life was such and awesome experience that I hope I get to recreate in a new environment soon enough!
